UNICEF conducted extensive research in 2021 on the status of school sanitation. The statistics show by region the percentage of schools with no service, limited service and basic sanitation. Globally, “3 in 10 schools – or 28 per cent – do not have basic sanitation services, impacting 539 million children.”
This report is really interactive - you can hone in on your own region and look at drinking water, sanitation and hygiene in schools in each area.
Unfortunately, it shows that Sub Saharan Africa has a lot of work to do in the area of school sanitation. But these stats give us something to work on and improve. Check out this link below to find out more.
