Trends in Global Business: Becoming Water Positive

How can businesses have a positive impact in the world of water? With the global water crisis, what difference can one business really make?


Planet Home writes about five multi-national companies including Microsoft and Starbucks that are committed to becoming water positive - giving back more water than they use.   Surprisingly some of these brands are not huge water users themselves, but they have seen the need to ensure the long term sustainability of the areas where they operate, and are doing something about it, in big and small ways.  Conserving water can mean more than watching how much we use each day - it also includes:

  • supporting community education around water saving

  • reforestation projects

  • restoration of rivers and wetlands

  • choosing more environmentally sustainable products and businesses
